Our doctor and staff are board-certified and experts in the field of vision therapy.  We love what we do and we get results!

Most people assume good eyesight = good vision, but eyesight and vision are fundamentally different skills.  This is where functional vision comes in.  Through our extensive evaluation process, we will be able to determine if functional vision is a problem for you or your child.

How do I know an evaluation is appropriate?

The best way to know if an evaluation is appropriate is to take the Symptom Checklist.

Many patients are referred by other professionals such as optometrists, OT/PT, educators, and psychologists.  In this case, these professionals have identified a potential functional vision problem that should be evaluated.  However, referrals are not required for an evaluation.

We work with many visual diagnoses including Convergence Insufficiency/Excess, Strabismus, and Amblyopia.  To see what other diagnoses can benefit from a functional vision evaluation – see the Diagnoses tab.

What is included in a functional vision evaluation?

During the evaluation, we are looking at several areas of functional vision including Visual Efficiency (tracking, focusing, eye teaming), Visual Processing (perceptual skills, fine motor), and Visual Learning (visual memory, visualization skills).  Ultimately, we are determining how the eyes and brain are working together and how the brain is processing the information that the eyes are taking in.

After the evaluation is complete, we will review the results and program recommendations at the consultation appointment.

Do you take insurance?

We are an out-of-network provider for all insurance plans and do not submit claims.  Coverage for vision therapy services is varied and depends on your individual insurance policy.

You can use your Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for our services.

No Charge for Initial Evaluations

We offer free vision therapy evaluations because we are absolutely committed to helping as many children and families as possible find relief and experience the transformative effects of improved vision. Here’s the challenge: Despite being in operation for more than 25 years and serving thousands of families, Vision Therapy is still a relatively unknown option – especially given the scale of the problem.

We know there are so many people out there who would have a better experience at home, at school, at work, in their relationships, in their hobbies, and in their entire lives if they addressed the real issue.

Relief starts here.

Here’s what you need to know: We offer free evaluations for children or adults whose symptoms indicate they could have a functional vision problem – or they have a previous diagnosis of a functional visual problem.

Why is this important? These free evaluations make it easier for people to get information on whether they have a visual condition that could benefit from vision therapy – plus learn what vision therapy is all about – prior to making a financial commitment.

We also schedule many second opinion appointments for people who have either been evaluated by another vision therapy office or have even gone through all or part of a vision therapy program and are not happy with the results or the way they were treated at that clinic. These evaluations are also provided at no charge as we feel this will help people to feel comfortable exploring other options for their care.

We’re here to help. Please reach out with any questions or to schedule a free evaluation today.

We can’t wait to meet you.

Common Evaluation Questions

My child gets a little anxious or nervous, what can I tell him/her before the evaluation?

Don't worry, the evaluation is non-invasive.  There are no puffs in the eye, no drops, no shots.  Parents accompany the child during the entire process to make them more comfortable.  Our staff is very experienced working with children who are a little apprehensive.  There are no wrong answers, we just want to see what they can do.

My child is delayed or cannot read, can they still be evaluated?

Yes!  Our staff is experienced in working with patients of all ability levels.  We work with children as young as 6 years old.  If you are concerned about your child's ability to complete an evaluation, call our office (952-844-0844) to discuss your situation and see if an evaluation is appropriate.

Do you work with Adults?

Absolutely!  Functional vision problems can hold back an adult in his or her career, social life, and hobbies.  It's never too late to start vision therapy.  Click here to learn more.

Is a parent required to attend both appointments?

Yes, a parent or guardian is required to accompany minors during the evaluation appointment and attend the consultation.  This ensures all parties understand the information presented and have the opportunity to ask questions.  We want you to feel comfortable and confident in our staff and programs.

Can I bring siblings or other children to the evaluation?

Siblings or other children are not allowed to be brought to the evaluation or consultation appointments.  This is to minimize distractions for the patient being tested and promote evaluation accuracy, as the parent/guardian will be observing the appointments.

Should I wear my glasses to the evaluation?

While this is an individual question, we typically have you wear what is normal for you.  Any new prescriptions should be given time for adjustment prior to the evaluation as to not skew the results.  If you have had a recent exam, please forward the results to our office and we can review the need for the prescription during the evaluation.
