What is Vision Therapy?

what is vision therapy

Vision Therapy teaches our eyes and brain to work together.

Our vision therapy programs utilize cutting edge techniques and procedures to treat the whole person, not just the eyes.  The activities are designed to improve Functional Vision Skills which include eye tracking, eye teaming, focusing, and visual processing.  When we teach the eyes and brain how to work together more efficiently, we can improve visual function and alleviate struggles.

Think of it this way: vision therapy is like physical therapy but for the visual system.

Imagine…

Getting lost in a book

Riding a bike

Enjoying school

Confidence in sports

At first glance, these activities may seem random, but they are all connected to vision and possible through vision therapy.

It’s said that the eyes are the window to your soul, but we say they are the window to your brain.  Over 80% of brain function incorporates the visual system.  You might be surprised to know that the visual system is comprised of the eyes and the brain – it’s how these two parts work together that matters.
