Vision Therapy Costs & Insurance

There’s no doubt about it: The results of vision therapy are priceless.

In terms of return on investment, our patients, and their families think nothing beats vision therapy. After all, how can you top improving your quality of life?

And vision therapy is, indeed, an investment. We provide state-of-the-art therapies and highly trained staff. Vision therapy comes at a cost, and many patients pay out of pocket. We don’t take this lightly. We have families too, and we know how much every dollar matters. We value your trust in us, and we work incredibly hard every day to honor your investment.

If you’re considering making an investment in vision therapy, consider this:

  • What’s it worth to watch your child fall in love with reading?
  • What’s it worth to witness your family’s homework battles disappear as a frustrated D-student becomes a top student?
  • What’s it worth to watch your former kid-on-the-sidelines gain the confidence to step up to the plate?
  • If you’re the one who needs vision therapy, what will it be worth to let go of a lifetime of struggles, releasing yourself permanently from the burden you’ve been carrying?

We think you’re worth it.

Vision Therapy Costs & Insurance Questions

What is the cost of vision therapy?

The cost of a vision therapy program varies depending on diagnoses, the severity of symptoms, and your goals.  As a general guideline, vision therapy costs can be compared to orthodontics, learning centers, or private tutoring.  We offer a variety of payment options including pre-payments, installments, and weekly payments.  Don’t worry; we will go over the specific program costs with you at the consultation.

Vision therapy is an investment in your future, how can you top improving your quality of life?

Are you an in-network provider?

Minnesota Vision Therapy Center is an out-of-network provider for all major medical insurance companies.  If you have any coverage, it would be through major medical policy, not vision insurance.

Who submits insurance claims?

You are responsible for submitting any insurance claims, but we make it easy for you.  We will provide you with a receipt after each session, which can be used to submit a claim.  The receipt will include diagnosis codes and all other information needed to submit a claim.  Every insurance policy’s claim submission process is different, so be sure to ask yours about their procedures.

Will my insurance cover vision therapy?

While most insurance policies do not cover the costs of vision therapy, some cover a small portion.  It is up to you to contact your insurance company to determine what coverage is available according to your policy.  We will provide you with diagnosis and procedure codes at the consultation.  You will need these codes to contact your insurance company to determine if you have coverage for vision therapy.

Even with little or no insurance coverage, many patients choose to invest in vision therapy anyway.  It is important to recognize that just because an insurance company chooses not to cover vision therapy, this does not take away the validity or the need for vision therapy.  You’ll need to decide what’s right for your family.

Why should we choose an out-of-network provider for vision therapy?

To our knowledge, all vision therapy clinics in our area are out of network.  Some clinics who perform vision therapy may be listed as in-network with your insurance, but this is typically for primary care only.
Many families pay a large portion out of pocket for vision therapy, regardless of network coverage.  Therefore, when choosing a vision therapy clinic keep in mind factors like expertise, certification, program options, and success rates.  Learn more about our team.
