Take a few minutes and enjoy reading a few of our teen success stories.  Many teens struggle though school and as the work becomes more intense the effort to keep up becomes difficult.  We are sharing stories of other teen’s who have experienced the same or similar issues and the life changing results they have experienced.

Success Story

Going into this program I had no idea what to expect and quite frankly was surprised by the simple "games" that Myranda played in the beginning. But very quickly she began to see improvement in her vision. More importantly, her therapist made it enjoyable for her to want to be there. It's not easy to get a teenager to do anything so that alone was amazing!  It was very difficult for me to understand what she was seeing so all through the program I was surprised by different things the staff pointed out about her not being able to skip (she can now) or the way she crawled – which were telltale signs of these types of problems. It was a really great learning experience! Myranda says she can read so much faster now and does not have to keep re-reading everything – This was one of the BEST INVESTMENTS I have made.

Success Story

I heard about Vision Therapy at an Attention Deficit support group meeting.  I had never met the woman who told me about Vision Therapy before that night.  She was so pleased with her son’s progress that she sold me on the program. I must say that my daughter who was 16 was not too keen on the idea.  She agreed to go and be tested.  The results came back and there were several areas she really needed help on. She has done a great job of meeting me at Vision Therapy every week and keeping up her end of the bargain for doing the homework.  (Many times she was not real thrilled with it but she did do it!) This past year she has begun reading for enjoyment—something I thought I would never see.  I have also noticed a child who does have more self-esteem.  Sara has really lifted the bar this past year in many areas of her life.  We are very proud of her. I only wish when she was struggling with reading in grade school that someone would have brought Vision Therapy to our attention—it may have made Sara’s school life easier.

Success Story

I would like to thank the staff and therapists at the Minnesota Vision Therapy Center.  Before I came here whenever I was on the computer, it felt like the room would shake.  Every time I would read, after 5 minutes, I would get a severe headache.  I would also skip lines and lose my place in the books I was reading.  On top of that it was hard to see a baseball flying through the air.  In school I was getting bad grades because I didn’t finish reading assignments on time.  And on spelling tests I would end up failing the tests because I’d get over half of them wrong. Now in school I’m getting mostly A’s.  It’s easier to do my assignments because I don’t get headaches reading directions or get headaches doing homework period.  Now reading makes a lot more sense because I’m not skipping lines, repeating lines or losing my place.  With the vision therapy I’ve been doing at home, baseballs I can watch all the way to the bat and all the way to the glove.  It’s a lot easier to sit at a computer and do homework.  My handwriting has improved a bunch.  In the standardized reading tests at school the average improvement from fall to spring was 6 points, and I improved 19 points.  In social studies we have world map tests that have gotten a lot easier to study off the map.  I still have some trouble spelling. To top it all off, I did well enough in skiing to go to the 2007 Junior Olympics in Winter Park Colorado.  I believe vision therapy helped with that accomplishment by helping me to see upcoming gates better.
